Sepiolite is a fibrous hydrated magnesium silicate clay used as an anti-caking agent and adsorbent. Like other silicate clays it is insoluble and poorly absorbed from the gut, and food-grade material is controlled for particle characteristics. No credible evidence of systemic harm exists at food-use levels.
