The mono-acidic potassium salt of phosphoric acid (KH₂PO₄). Used as an acidity regulator and buffering agent. Also provides a source of dietary potassium. High cumulative phosphate intake is a concern for kidney health; potassium intake is also relevant for those with impaired kidney function who may need to limit it.
