Magnesium Lactate (E329): What It Is and Is It Safe?
Magnesium lactate is the magnesium salt of lactic acid, used as an acidity regulator and as a source of magnesium. It is well tolerated and metabolised normally, though large amounts of magnesium salts can have a laxative effect. It is not among the EU/GB authorised food-additive lactates E325 to E327, but magnesium lactate is permitted as a mineral source in fortified foods and supplements.
