Safe Glazing Agent

Esters derived from montan wax, a mineral wax extracted from lignite (brown coal). Used as a glazing and surface-finishing agent on confectionery, some fresh fruit, and as a component of food-contact wax coatings. Applied in very thin layers. Not digestible; passes through the body. Considered safe by EFSA at food use levels.
