Wax esters are esters of long-chain fatty acids with long-chain fatty alcohols, the principal constituents of natural waxes such as jojoba and beeswax fractions. As a glazing agent they form inert surface coatings and are poorly digested. They are not listed as an authorised food additive in the EU or UK.
