Calcium glycerophosphate is an organic phosphate ester of glycerol used as a buffer, stabiliser and as a source of calcium and phosphorus. Unlike the inorganic polyphosphate additives, it is used chiefly as a nutrient source, including in supplements and in oral-care products for remineralisation. It is not authorised as a food additive E383 in the UK or EU, but is permitted as a calcium and phosphorus source in supplements and foods for specific groups.
