A calcium aluminium silicate mineral. Used as an anti-caking agent to keep salt and powdered foods free-flowing. A source of dietary aluminium. EFSA aluminium TWI of 1 mg/kg body weight per week applies to total dietary aluminium. At typical food-use concentrations, exposure is well within limits for most people. Those with impaired kidney function excrete aluminium less efficiently.
