Partial Polyglycerol Esters (E498): What It Is and Is It Safe?
Safe
Emulsifier
Partial esters of polyglycerol with fatty acids, used as emulsifiers in fat- and oil-based foods. They are digested to glycerol, polyglycerol and fatty acids; EFSA's 2017 re-evaluation of the closely related polyglycerol esters of fatty acids, E475, raised no safety concern. The partial polyglycerol esters are not on the EU authorised list.
