Magnesium citrate (E345): What It Is and Is It Safe?
Magnesium citrate is the magnesium salt of citric acid, used as an acidity regulator and as a source of dietary magnesium. It is well tolerated at food and supplement levels; only large medicinal doses produce an osmotic laxative effect. It is not authorised as additive E345 in the UK or EU, but magnesium citrate is permitted as a magnesium source in food supplements and fortified foods.
